TalkTalk selects F-Secure to offer free anti-virus protection to its Internet customers

F-Secure has been selected by TalkTalk, the communications company from The Carphone Warehouse, to offer free anti-virus protection for 90 days to those who sign up for its Talk3 International tariff.

In response to the changing needs of broadband consumers, the ISP has chosen to bring this enterprise-level security to home users, offering much more than a ‘no-frills’ internet service. F-Secure was chosen for the strength and range of its anti-virus offering, proven speed of response to new threats, its service provider-friendly business model with monthly subscription fees, plus its complete availability through a single easy installation.

Since the launch in April, over 340,000 people have signed up to TalkTalk broadband. It offers up to 8Mbps with a free modem, five free email addresses, 15MB of free web space for customers to make their own website and internet security software enabled by F-Secure, on a trial basis. This software automatically gets updated on a daily basis meaning customers no longer have the trouble of managing either daily updates or expensive annual upgrades.

The security software protects families’ PCs from viruses, spam and hacking. It also includes a parental control feature to protect children from unsuitable websites. At the end of the trial period customers can opt to purchase the software on an ongoing monthly subscription basis, to allow families to adjust their chosen level of security month-by-month. Users will also benefit from regular, automatic updates to protect them from new and emerging threats.

David Thatcher, managing director at TalkTalk, said: “We want to ensure that we are delivering the best service possible to our customers, and a secure connection should not just be for those on expensive broadband packages. We have extended our offer of 90 days free internet protection to all our new broadband customers, and after the trial customers can opt to keep their computer secure at a reduced monthly rate. F-Secure provides both the top level of security and the flexibility which our customers need.”

Brian Gregory, service provider business manager at F-Secure UK and Ireland, said: “Offering high-quality internet security with its free broadband service places TalkTalk's broadband in a league of its own, giving consumers all they need for speedy and secure internet use. We are pleased to continue our relationship with TalkTalk in this way, keeping a new wave of internet users secure online.”

The TalkTalk security package is available to all new and existing subscribers, who can install the security software from the CD in their connection pack or download it from the TalkTalk website.
